Second, according to the cutting movement mode and the corresponding blade shape, the tool can be divided into three categories:
1. Universal tools, such as turning tools, planing tools, milling tools (excluding forming turning tools, forming planing tools and forming milling tools), boring tools, drills, reaming drills, reamers and saws, etc.;
2. Forming tool, the cutting edge of this type of tool has the same or close to the same shape as the section of the workpiece being processed, such as forming turning tool, forming planing tool, forming milling cutter, broach, taper reamer and various thread processing tools;
3. The developing tool is to use the developing method to process the tooth surface of the gear or similar workpieces, such as hob, gear shaper, shaving knife, bevel gear planer and bevel gear milling cutter.
Third, tool materials are roughly divided into the following categories: high-speed steel, cemented carbide, cermet, ceramics, polycrystalline cubic boron nitride and polycrystalline diamond.
